Program Description (Background) / Description du programme (contexte)

The Country Office currently has only one driver, making it difficult to ensure adequate transportation coverage and back-up in the event of the driver’s unavailability. Recruiting an additional driver is therefore necessary to ensure operational continuity and timely support to staff movements and field activities.

Scope of Work (SOW) / Portée des travaux
  • Adhere to local laws when driving and comply with country legal speed limits or International Medical Corps (IMC) speed limits, whichever are more restrictive.
  • Perform a daily inspection of the assigned vehicle before departure to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Ensure that all assigned communication equipment is operational at all times.
  • Check that the vehicle is equipped with all required items, including a first aid kit, emergency food, spare parts, and any other mandatory equipment.
  • Apply all safety and security measures required by International Medical Corps.
  • Ensure that all passengers comply with safety and security measures during travel.
  • Ensure that all goods transported are safely secured and accompanied by a waybill.
  • Maintain the vehicle logbook by recording all trips, obtaining the relevant passenger signatures, and documenting all refueling activities.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and adequately fueled at all times.
  • Coordinate all movements with the relevant manager.
  • Immediately report any vehicle issue or accident to management.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance when required.
  • Inform the manager whenever servicing, repairs, or additional maintenance are required.
  • Immediately report any security concerns affecting IMC staff or vehicles.
  • Become familiar with the local area and the planned route before departure, particularly with regard to security concerns. If unfamiliar with the route, request a briefing from the security focal point, logistics referent, or another driver who has previously traveled the route.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is always defensively parked, with the vehicle reversed into the parking space and positioned for a quick departure if necessary.
