NGO, humanitarian and international development jobs

Work in this sector spans emergency response, community programmes and the professional services that support them. MOALI Jobs brings vacancies together across organizations and countries. Use your skills, preferred location and the work you want to do to narrow your search.

NGO jobs

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) hire for programmes and for finance, HR, logistics, communications and other support functions. Their work may involve humanitarian assistance, education, health, advocacy or development. The organization's mission gives context; the vacancy describes the professional skills it needs.

Humanitarian jobs

Humanitarian aid jobs support people affected by conflict, displacement and disasters. Work can include protection, shelter, health, food assistance, education, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Humanitarian relief also depends on teams managing supplies, budgets, information and operations.

Development jobs

International development jobs can involve livelihoods, public services, governance and climate resilience. Responsibilities range from delivering programmes to research, partnerships and monitoring results. Emergency response, recovery and longer-term development can overlap within the same organization or programme.

Find NGO and humanitarian jobs that match your skills

Start with your profession as well as the sector. An accountant, a logistics specialist and a health professional may work towards the same programme's goals through very different roles.

Your area of workRoles and specialismsWhat to compare
Programmes and technical workProgramme officer, project coordinator, protection, education, health, WASHTechnical expertise, the people served, and field or project responsibilities.
Finance and operationsFinance, grants finance, HR, procurement, logistics, administration, ITRequired systems, qualifications, reporting duties and operational experience.
Research and programme qualityResearch, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, MEALResearch methods, data skills and experience measuring results. MEAL means monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.
Communications and partnershipsCommunications, advocacy, fundraising, partnershipsWriting and language skills, intended audiences, channels and partner relationships.

These examples describe areas of work; current vacancies and job titles vary by employer.

Compare similar titles by their responsibilities. A finance vacancy may focus on donor reporting, accounting or budget planning. A project coordinator may need expertise in health, education or another technical area. These differences help you decide which announcements deserve a closer look.

Browse by country, duty station or organization

If you need work in a particular country, start with its vacancies, then compare roles and employers. If you can relocate, search for your profession across locations. Organization pages are useful when you want to explore one employer's listed opportunities.

Distinguish where the job is based from who can apply. Check nationality or work-authorization conditions, required languages and travel expectations. For remote or home-based work, check the permitted country of residence and working hours before treating it as an option from your location.

For United Nations vacancies, the UN Jobs page brings together UN-system opportunities and explains their job categories and official application routes.

Find entry-level jobs or move into the sector

Your first role

For your first NGO or humanitarian role, compare the essential requirements with experience you can demonstrate from employment, study or volunteering. Separate requirements marked essential or required from those described as desirable. Look at the years of experience, qualifications and languages together.

Changing sectors

When changing sectors, identify where your existing skills match the work: managing budgets, coordinating suppliers, analysing data or supporting a team. An assistant or associate title can still require experience. Internships have separate eligibility conditions, which should be checked in the announcement.
